Focus on Summer Safety During a Pandemic

June 2020 | Issue No. 198
Winter Weather Tips

The HealthyChildren.org team wishes a Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! This weekend also marks the official start of summer, and families are finding ways to have fun and stay cool while spending more time at home during the pandemic. If you have a backyard pool, even if it's a small one for kids to splash in, check out this important safety information. And remember that young children will often try to find a way to get into the water even when it's not swimming time.

Your family may also be visiting lakes, rivers and other waterfronts to get outdoors while still keeping a distance from others to reduce the spread of coronavirus. The AAP offers tips to keep children and teens safe around water, wherever they are. Read more here.

Parents may be looking into summer camps to help their child start to reconnect with other kids after COVID-19 school closings. Look for these safety steps that should be in place for the pandemic.
